Kaylyn Scardefield is a board-certified music therapist who joined the WMF community in 2020 as a songwriter at the inaugural WMF songwriting retreat. Profoundly moved by the experience, Kaylyn pursued her Master’s degree in music therapy and clinical mental health counseling. She currently works with military populations seeking mental health support and older adult populations seeking cognitive health support and end-of-life care. Her therapeutic approach integrates person-centered, existential, and cognitive-behavioral therapies. She is dedicated to creating an empathetic, non-judgmental, and musical space where individuals feel safe to share their truth, cultivate personal awareness, and nurture their well-being. Alongside her therapeutic work, she has over 20 years of songwriting and performance experience, uniquely positioning her to not only observe the healing potential of music but also, deeply know it herself. In her personal time, Kaylyn enjoys antiquing, perusing main-street towns with her husband, sharing tables and time with friends and family, and, of course, writing songs.
